It's Tombstone Tuesday - time to share a photograph of a gravestone or burial place.
Here is a photograph of the burial place of my great-grandfather, Charles Auble (1849-1916) in Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, California.
Charlie is buried in Mason Division S, Lot 21, Space 15 at Mount Hope. They have me a map showing the Lot and neighboring spaces so that I could find the site. He is in the open grassy space between the two in-ground grave markers in the picture below (view looking southwest):
Charlie's neighbors are Julia Burreson on the west and Everett Cadwell on the east.
I took some pictures of the cemetery from the road (so that I could find it again!):
The two in-ground markers are shown above, and Charlie's grassy spot is between them. At least it hasn't sunk, and they keep the grass mowed.
My biography of Charles Auble (1849-1916) is here.
I wonder how much a simple in-ground marker for Charlie would cost? Would anyone care, besides me? Probably not. Of course, I have some of his genes - and inherited a hairline and body build from him, I think. It would be different if he was a veteran or someone my grandmother admired, but he wasn't.

I would think a simple marker would not be that expensive. I actually purchased a gravestone with engraving some 20 years ago for my great-grandmother who had died in 1917 and it was $250. Of course that WAS 20 years ago and I am sure the prices are much higher. I never regretted doing it.
Randy,
Are you sure that there is not a marker there? I know it looks like there isn't one there, but I have had situations where the flat marker was grown over with grass.
Just curious.
