How genealogy can bring your family closer this Thanksgiving
When your family gets together this Thanksgiving, it's the culmination of generation upon generation of evolution. Use family history to remind your family where they came from and get the ball rolling on nostalgic recollection of years past.

The power of family history

Oral history for the family historian
Even if you're a family history researcher who has done it all, you can still make amazing discoveries by conducting oral history interviews with family members this Thanksgiving. You'll be surprised at what you uncover.

Preserve the stories of your elders

Famous descendants of Mayflower passengers
Did you know that the 51 "first comers" that had children have an estimated 35 million descendants in the United States? These iconic celebrities can trace their heritage back to a passenger on the Mayflower. Can you?

This is a pretty good deal for U.S. subscribers.

NOTE:  After Linda's question in a comment, I asked Findmypast if this could be used for renewals.  The answer was no, only for new or lapsed subscriptions.

Randy, Is this good for renewals, too, or just new subscriptions?

This is an excellent deal! Even lower than what I originally subscribed for back in 2012 when they debuted their US records.

I can verify that it works for the reactivation of a lapsed account, but I can't say if it would work for a renewal of an active account.

I just noticed that in the findmypast promotional material, in the section headed "Famous descendants of Mayflower passengers," John Howland is twice referred to as "indentured servant." The Great Migration sketch of John Howland never uses this expression, but rather refers only to Bradford's use of the term "manservant." Until original documents are found (and this will probably be never) that establish Howland's legal relationship with John Carver, there is no justification for referring to Howland as anyone's "indentured servant." And there is much known about his history that supports the idea (not original with me, of course) that Howland was on the order of an "assistant" (whatever that might have been!) or steward to Carver.

What a bargain. I have a normal subscription that is valid until April, have now done the world one at a good price of $47, although this doesn't kick in until April 16 it's valid until April 17. So although I have to wait until my old subscription runs out before I can use the World one, at least I get to use the code and not miss out.

I have a Findmypast subscription and I used the discount code to pay for another year and it worked. My new subscription starts when my old one ends. Great bargain!
