Here is my 52 Ancestors biography for week #163:

William Cutter (1722-1780) is #236 on my Ahnentafel List, my 5th great-grandfather, who married #237 Mary Kent (1726-????)  in about 1744, probably in Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey.

I am descended through:

William Cutter was born in about 1722 in Woodbridge, New Jersey, the ninth child of Richard Cutter, and the first child by Richard's second wife, Mercy Kelsey[1-2].

William Cutter married Mary Kent in about 1744, probably in Middlesex County, New Jersey[1-2].  They had eight children born between 1745 and 1765, all in Woodbridge, New Jersey[2].

William Cutter was named one of the three executors of, and received the following from, his father's estate in the will dated 20 September 1756, and proved 22 January 1757[3]:

*  his father's dwelling house, on the land it stands
*  one half part of the gristmill and saw mill, and half the stream
*  tract of land opposite his father's former dwelling house, including orchard and barn
*  tract of salt marsh bought of Zebulon Pike
*  one third part of lot of land on Strawberry Hill bought of Richard Dole
*  one third part of lot of land on the south side of Pike's Brook
*  five acres of salt marsh in Rariton
*  one third part of lot of land on Lockhearts's Hill
*  20 acre lot of woodland lying north of Piscataway Road 
*  ten acres of salt meadow at Redroot Landing bought of Richard Dole
*  one third part of the remainder of his moveable estate for the purpose of paying debts, funeral charges and legacies 

In the 1759 will of his mother, Mercy (Kelsey) Cutter (1698-1760), William Cutter received the sum of five shillings[4].

William Cutter was known as "Deacon."  He was appointed "surveyor of roads" in Woodbridge, New Jersey on 9 March 1773[1].

William Cutter died on 14 February 1780 in Woodbridge, New Jersey.  His gravestone in Presbyterian Cemetery in Woodbridge reads[5-6]:  

"In memory of Deacon William Cutter, who departed this life Feby 14, 1780 in the 58th year of his age."

There is no probate record in Middlesex County, New Jersey for William or Mary (Kent) Cutter.
