My Day Two at the SCGS Genealogy Jamboree

I had a much better night's sleep last night - at least 8 hours, so I had better energy today, but now my feet hurt because I'm not used to walking so much.  Here are my highlights from Day Two:

*  Had breakfast down in the media room next to the lobby again - we are creatures of habit.

*  Back to the room to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that My Day 1 at SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2019 posted.

*  Left at 8:20 a.m. and went to the Hollywood Room to hear Peggy Clemens Lauritzen present "America's Turnpikes, Rivers and Canals."  I did manage to get a good photo of Peggy and her husband Kerry - they live in Ohio and drive out every year.

*  At 9 a.m., the Exhibit Hall was open so I jumped in and  discussed DNAGedcom (www.dnagedcom.com with Rob and John at their Genetic Family exhibit.  They have additional tools to analyze matches at the segment level, cluster matches, and a chrome extension to put chromosome data into your AncestryDNA matches (from GEDmatch data).  This is a subscription service.

*  I hustled down to the Pavilion at 9:30 a.m. to catch Michael Lacopo give his presentation on "Pennsylvania German Social History: Furthering Research by Understanding Your Ancestors."

*  After another loop through the Exhibit Hall and seeing friends, I went up to the room to escort Linda to lunch in the Conference Center Hallway.  I had cookies for a snack.  Talked to Andy Lee and Jay Holladay too.  

*  I had my lunch at the ProGen Alumni luncheon in the Daily Grill restaurant from 12:30 to 2 p.m.  Denise Levenick and Cyndy Richardson set this up, and had a game to play - guess what 15 different doodads were - most were from the 1920 to 1950 time frame.  I took a photo of them and asked Facebook friends to help (this was legal!).  I had the beef dip sandwich with fries, and it was bleh.  There were about 27 in attendance at three tables, and  there was lots of sharing after we introduced ourselves.  I didn't win the game - Jane Neff Rollins did.  Here's the photo I put on Facebook:

*  After lunch, I tried to get into Crista Cowan's talk on Ancestry but the room was full.

*  So it was back to the Exhibit Hall and I talked to Jacqi Stevens about her society seminars, Connie Moretti at the DAR exhibit, and Ray Raser and the current Mayflower Society California leader ab out joining the Mayflower Society.  

Then I spoke to Alex Cass at the Celebrate DNA! (www.CelebrateDNA.com) exhibit which sells customized T-shirts with DNA symbols and your ethnicity estimates.  

*  I took some more photos in the Exhibit Hall and then was able to talk to David Neal who is the creator of the DNA2Tree program at www.DNADreamers.com.  This is a iOS only (at this time) app that can be used by adoption DNA Angels and others to streamline the research and analysis process for adoptee DNA testing and family tree building.  DNA2Tree analyzes your AncestryDNA results:  it loads your DNA matches, then uses matches trees to find common ancestors, analyzes DNA match clusters, and builds a birth family tree.  It can be used for brick wall problems also.  This is a subscription site, and David hopes to add Android mobile devices in the future.

*  I went back to the room and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Genealogy Research Trip and Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 26 May to 1 June 2019 posted.  I 
collected Linda and we went to dinner at Black Angus in Burbank.  We were back by 7:30 p.m. 

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of, and wrote Photos From Day One at Jamboree 2019 and this post.

I attended only two of the six time slots for classes today, but I had good intentions.  So I have attended 5 classes in the 12 possible time slots.
