Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:
1) Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society general meeting on Wednesday at Bonita-Sunnyside Library. The speaker was Michael Allen on "The Founding Fathers..." This was a short (30 minutes?) and inadequate treatment of the "founders" - done as a lecture. One of the scholarship winners read her essay about a military veteran. We had a nice crowd of 36, and I asked for more members to contribute survey information.
2) Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society By-Laws Review Committee meeting on Friday to review and revise the society By-Laws, Standing Rules, and Standard Operating Procedures. We modified several committee SOPs.
3) Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt webinar, and acted as a opinionated panelist. Subjects discussed included the ongoing Family History Expos online conference; Ancestry's Holocaust collections; DNA tests, and the Blaine Bettinger and Debbie Wayne books; Russ's SSDI warning; Facebook Groups; the FamilySearch research wiki; Genea-Musings' FamilySearch updates and Bets Of posts; Liv's Norwegian and other berries; Findmypast collections; and thr Find A Grave site and Facebook page.
4) Watched one Legacy Family Tree webinar -- DNA, Genealogy, and Privacy: Handling the Double-Edged Sword by Thomas MacEntee.
5) Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandmother #497 Anna (Waldruff) (Kieffer) Zafrin/Sovereign (1715-1767) for my 52 Ancestors ancestor sketch on Friday.
6) Transcribed the 1796 deed of Samuel Hoar selling land in Gardner, Massachusetts to 4th great-grandfather Nathan Gates (1767-1830) for Amanuensis Monday.
7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 31,864 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.
8) I continue to use Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 54,204 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 107,431 source citations. I TreeShared twice this week updating 228 profiles, and I resolved 721 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 113,908 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.
9) Worked on my AncestryDNA Common Ancestor match notes, putting the relationship first (e.g., 3C1R), then if I have them in RootsMagic yet, and installed the updated MedBetter Chrome extension.
10) Wrote 21 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which five were press releases. The most popular post last week was MedBetterDNA Chrome Extension Improved to Show Full AncestryDNA Match Notes with over 255 views.
