Treasure Chest Thursday - 1713 Death Record of Nathaniel Fitz Randolph (1642-1713) in Woodbridge, N.J.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1713 death record of Nathaniel Fitz Randolph of Woodbridge, N.J.

The Nathamniel Fitz Randolph death record is about half way down the right-hand page:

The transcription of this record is:

*  Name of the Deceased:  Nathaniel Fitz Randolph
*  Connection of the Deceased:  (Son of Edward and Elizabeth)
*  Place and Time of Death:  Woodbridge, 9 Mo 21 1713
*  Place and Time of Burial:  [blank]
*  Age:  (72)

The source citation for this record is:

U.S. Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1994, Rahway and Plainfield [N.J.] Monthly Meeting, Register of Marriages, Births, and Deaths, 1687-1871, Deaths, page 185, Nathaniel Fitz Randolph death record; indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 21 August 2014).

This is a Derivative Source record of the Quaker meeting records of Rahway and Plainfield, New Jersey, which was probably copied from the original source records.  It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence for the name, place and death date, but Secondary Information for the parents names and age.

Nathaniel Fitz Randolph (162-1713) was christened 15 May 1642 in Barnstable, Massachusetts, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Blossom) Fitz Randolph.  He married November 1662 in Barnstable, Massachusetts to  Mary Holloway (1641-1703), the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Allen) Holloway).  They had seven children, and most of the family moved to Woodbridge, New Jersey in about 1678 because of persecution in Barnstable because of his Quaker faith.

Nathaniel and Mary (Holloway) Fitz Randolph are my 8th great-grandparents, through their son Samuel Fitz Randolph (1668-1754), who married 1693 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Mary Jones (1672-1760).
