Best of the Genea-Blogs - 29 March to 4 April 2020

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Genealogy Shelter In Place Project #4  and Project #5 by Nancy Loe on Sassy Jane Genealogy.

Quarantined Kids and Family History by Meagan E.H. Siekman on Vita Brevis.

Should We Celebrate Genetic Ethnicity? by Dave Dowell on Dr. D. Digs Up Ancestors.

*  9 Great Genealogy Resources To Take Your Family History Further by Esther on MyHeritage Blog.

Preserving A Lock of Hair by Melissa Barker on A Genealogist in the Archives.

Triangulation in Action at DNAPainter by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

*  Where is British Colonial America? Can we standardize place names? by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  Genealogy Research in the 21st Century Part 3: Collaboration and Personal Communication by Nicole Dyer on Family Locket.

Best Friends in the World (Wide Web) by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

New Numbers For the Shared cM Project by Kitty Cooper on Kitty Cooper's Blog.

*  DNA In a Time of Crisis by Judy G. Russelll on The Legal Genealogist.

*  Bizarre Entries You Would Never Expect to See in the U.S. Census by Esther on MyHeritage Blog.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds  by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Friday Fossicking 3rd April 2020 by Crissouli on That Moment in Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- April 4, 2020  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy, thanks for the shout out this week...and also, thanks for all those great stay-at-home resources. I see a lot of us are on the same wavelength just now.
