It's Treasure Chest Tuesday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the 1686 marriage record of Marie Wight and Joseph Clark in the Medfield, Massachusetts town vital record book:
The treasure today is the 1686 marriage record of Marie Wight and Joseph Clark in the Medfield, Massachusetts town vital record book:
The marriage record is 12th entry of the WIGHT entries on this page:
"[WIGHT] Marie and Joseph Clark, Apr. 8, 1686*"."
The source citation for this record is:
Vital Records of Medfield, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Marriages, page 183, Marie Wight and Joseph Clark entry, 8 April 1686.
This is a Derivative Source record for the marriage of Marie Wight and Joseph Clark. It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth date and place, and the name Joseph Clarke and her parents' names. The original record is probably a Medfield town record that has been lost over the centuries.
Marie Wight was the daughter of Thomas and Mehitable (Cheney) Wight of Medfield, Massachusetts. Joseph was the son of of Ephraim and Mary (Bullen) Clarke of Medfield. Joseph and Mary (Wight) Clarke are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Hephzibah Clark (1699-1791) who married Timothy Hamant (1699-1774) in 1727.
