Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 21 March 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom.  I reported on the upcoming i4GG San Diego conference, the RotsTech 2022 DNA classes, AncestryDNA's expansion to Mexico, Ancestry's updated communities, and AutoKinship at GEDmatch.   Demonstrated color coding AncestryDNA matches, and finding DNA match's ancestors in FamilySearch Family Tree and WikiTree.

2)  Served as a panelist on today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  We discussed Liv's Norway mother's World War II experiences, the History for Ukraine effort, Relatives at RootsTech, John's "I about Y" blog post, New York City vital records, Census Genie, my will of Peter J. Seaver, and the FamilySearch Get Involved mobile app.

3)  Posted my updated list of 1950 U.S. Census targets in Rabbit Holes With Randy - Preparing for the 1950 U.S. Census.

4) Published a genealogy biography of  #307 Mary (Herrington) (Rogers) Grout (1693-1774) of Watertown and Westborough, Massachusetts for the 52 Ancestors series.

5) Transcribed a probate record - 1807 Order to Pay Creditors of Insolvent Estate of Peter Johonnot Seaver in Suffolk County, Massachusetts for the Amanuensis Monday series.

6)  Updated my To-Do list for the San Diego FamilySearch Center in preparation for going with the CVGS group on this coming Wednesday.

6) AncestryDNA now has 39,585 DNA matches (up 46) this past week, with no new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,248 DNA matches (up 35), with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 1 AncestryDNA match and added no  ThruLines to RootsMagic.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,853 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 106).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,381 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 112 from last week), and 144,465 source citations (up 68). I TreeShared 107 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 909  Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 24,603 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Rabbit Holes With Randy - Preparing for the 1950 U.S. Census with over 187 views.

10) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 105 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time.  I got a start on the income taxes - health care costs were through the roof!  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. I watched the Ukraine news  occasionally.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and no yard work.  The hillside tree cleanup is still not finished.
