Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 10-16 April 2022

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  His Name was Jacob Giddens. He had No Middle Name. Please Make This Correction in Your Online Family Tree by Diana Bryan Quinn on Moments in Time, a Genealogy Blog.

Simple Tips for Understanding Italian Birth Records by DiAnn Iamarino on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  Many Paths to Sources: Vital Records Part 1 by Cari Taplin on Genealogy Pants.

*  1950 Census: So What & Why Should You Care? by Julie Tarr on Genealogy In Action.

*  Add a Transcription to Improve NARA's 1950 Census Index by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

AncestryDNA New SideView by Ann Raymont on DNAsleuth.

Blog Your Family Tree by Dick Eastman on Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter.

1950 US Census: I’m Here To Help! by Julie Cahill Tarr on Julie's Genealogy & History Hub.

Genealogical Tangents by Christopher C. Child on Vita Brevis.

Finding the Fortune by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

Genealogy vs Family History – Graphed!  by Kenneth Marks on The Ancestor Hunt.

Looking at Ancestry's New Ethnicity Estimates by Kelly Wheaton on Wheaton Wood.

When Ancestors Changed Names by Amy Johnson Crow on Amy Johnson Crow.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

* This Week's Creme de la Creme - April 16, 2022  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
