Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1672 Birth Record of John Horton in Milton, Massachusetts

It's time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1672 birth record of John Horton in Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts:
The birth record is the second record of the Horton section:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"HORTON, John,  Son of Thomas, June 6, 1672"

The source citation for this record is:

Peter Thacher; Hannah Vose, Milton records : births, marriages and deaths, 1662-1843 (Boston, Mass. : A. Mudge & Son, 1900), Births, page 33, John Horton entry, 6 June 1672; indexed database with images, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com).

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of John Horton.  The original record is probably in a Milton town record book that is not extant.

John Horton (1672-1752) was born in Milton, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas and Sarah (--?--) Horton.  He married Mehitable Garnsey (1673-1742), the daughter of John and Elizabeth (--?--) Garnsey, in about 1690 in Milton.  They had seven children.

John and Mehitable (Garnsey) Horton are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son John Horton (1696-1796), who married Mary Chase (1695-1734) in 1719 in Swansea, Massachusetts.
