The Kenyon family of Rhode Island was described in 1935 by Howard Kenyon in the American Kenyons book[1]. Several Kenyon descendants updated the work for the first five generations in the year 2000 time frame and made it available to Kenyon researchers as "Rhode Island Kenyons (Generation 1), Updated: 4/12/99[2]."
John Kenyon (c1682-1735) was born, and baptized on 26 December 1682, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, the son of John and --?-- (--?--) Kenyon[1-2].
He married in July 1704 to Elizabeth Remington (1686-1747), the daughter of John and Abigail (Richmond) Remington[1-3,5]. They had ten children, most of whom are recorded in the South Kingstown town records:

John Kenyon's father, John Kenyon (1655-1732), yeoman of Westerly RI, died testate, having written a will dated 12 June 1732, which was proved on 26 June 1732[4]. In the will, his son John was bequeathed:
"Item I Give & Bequeath to my Beloved Son John Kinyon Ten pounds to be Raised & Levied Out of my Estate within one year after my decease."
As the eldest son, John Kenyon likely received all of the real estate holdings of his father.
When his daughter, Elizabeth, married on 24 February 1734/5 in South Kingstown, it was entered on the town clerk's record that she was the daughter of "John, deceased.[1-2]"
John Kinyon left no record of probate, administration, or inventory. He probably died in 1733 or 1734 in Westerly, certainly before 24 February 1734/5.
