Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 11 June 2023

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday.  Reported on the newsletter, Research Group and DNA Interest Group.  Transferred copies of the CVGS newsletter for 2010 to 2022 to the CVGS OneDrive files.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society Program Meeting on Saturday.  Christine Cohen presented on American Ancestors and Fold3.

3)  Wrote, edited, published and distributed the June 2023 edition of the CVGS Family Tree Gazette newsletter.

4)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for #763 Susanna (West) Barber (c1666-b1756) of South Kingstown and Charlestown, Rhode Island for the 52 Ancestors series on Friday.  I've written 483 of these sketches for my ancestors.

5)  Transcribed the two page 1880 Petition to sell real property of Edward L. Seaver of Harrisville, New Hampshire for the Amanuensis Monday series.

6)  Used the MyHeritage Reimagine mobile app to scan more photo album pages, tagged persons in photos, and wrote captions for photos.  I have about 540 photos now in the MyHeritage Photo collection.  Downloaded about 30 more photos to my desktop computer files.  Wrote  Rabbit Holes With Randy -- Scanning Album Photos With Reimagine to document my process.

7)  AncestryDNA now has 43,372 DNA matches (up 56 from 4 June) for me today, with no new ThruLines.   I added no Notes to my new matches.  MyHeritageDNA now has 11,439 DNA matches (up 23 from 4 June) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 49,538 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 1).

9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 71,086 persons in my RootsMagic file (down 3, because I found and merged duplicate persons), and 146,032  source citations (up 15). I TreeShared 50 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 321 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 177,737 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

10) Wrote 14 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Monday through Sunday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Rabbit Holes With Randy -- Scanning Album Photos With Reimagine with over 97 views.  Genea-Musings had about 44,400 views last week.

11)  Real life:  This is week 169 (over three years!) since COVID restrictions started.   I stayed home except for visiting Linda every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility. Went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.  Went to my cardiologist doctor on Monday - my blood pressure is still high, but he said the heart was fine.  Installed my heart monitor.

I'm still sorting out stuff from the closet and the genealogy cave - save, toss or donate.  The backyard weedwacking was on the weeds on the backside of the backyard wall.  Walked every day on the block and talked to several neighbors.  I finished reading The Rivers Murders by James Patterson, and started Storm Watch by C.J. Box.  The Padres season continued, and I watched all of the games this past week.  They are 31-34 so far (4-2 this past week) and in fourth place in the NL West division.
