Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Daily Sentinel [Grand Junction, Colo.] newspaper dated 15 December 1973, page 10:

This obituary identifies his name, age, birth date and place, death date and place, marriage date and place, his spouse's name, and names of his children and their residence.  It dos not provide any information about his military service, occupation, or associations.

Arthur Garfield Seaver (1880-1973) was born 26 October 1880 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Joshua Marshall and Gulielma Maria "Elma" (Sturtevant) Seaver.  He died 13 December 1973 in Cedaredge, Colorado.  He married (1) Edna Marie Wilsey (1879-1942) on 3 July 1906 in Denver, Colorado.  They had two children:

*  John Wilsey "Jack" Seaver (1907-1997), married 1991 Ruth McCormick (1908-2001).
*  Jeanne Elizabeth Seaver (1913-1995), married 1935 Philip Raymond Asel (1913-1985).

Arthur married (2) Rena B. Westwood (1884-1987) on 24 May 1944.  They had no children.

Arthur Garfield Seaver (1880-1973) is my 7th cousin twice removed, with common Seaver ancestor of my 8th great-grandfather, Shubael Seaver (1640-1729).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a short obituary with family information. I am glad that I can honor  Arthur Garfield Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
