Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 4 June 2023

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Wednesday with 48 in attendance.  The speaker was Paula Stuart-Warren on "The National Archives: the Nation's Attic."

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group on Saturday.  Kathleen Fernandes presented "All About Segments."

3)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for #762 Moses Barber (1652-1733) of South Kingstown, Rhode Island for the 52 Ancestors series on Friday.  I've written 482 of these sketches for my ancestors.

4)  Transcribed the one page 1893 Petition to appoint an administrator for the estate of Edward E. Seaver of Harrisville, New Hampshire for the Amanuensis Monday series.

5)  Downloaded the Reimagine mobile app and scanned about 100 photo album pages with about 300 photos, and saved them on the MyHeritage Photos page.  I enhanced and colorized many of them, tagged faces, and downloaded some of them to save to my computer files.  I have done three albums, and have about 15 more, plus loose photos, to do.

6) AncestryDNA now has 43,316 DNA matches (up 35 from 28 May) for me today, with one new ThruLines (but wrong!).   I added one Note to my new matches.  MyHeritageDNA now has 11,416 DNA matches (up 16 from 28 May) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

7)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 49,537 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 1).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 71,089 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 1), and 146,017  source citations (up 18). I TreeShared 75 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 442 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 177,690to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

9) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Monday through Sunday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Test Driving the MyHeritage Reimagine Mobile App with over 176 views.  Genea-Musings had about 30,100 views last week.

10)  Real life:  This is week 169 (over three years!) since COVID restrictions started.   I stayed home except for visiting Linda every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility. Went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.  I'm still sorting out stuff from the closet and the genealogy cave - save, toss or donate.  The backyard weedwacking was on the weeds on the backside of the backyard wall.  Worked a bit on the dog run weeds and bushes with the clippers.  Walked every day on the block and talked to several neighbors.  Went to my family practice doctor on Tuesday - my blood pressure is still high.  I have been reading The Rivers Murders by James Patterson.  The Padres season continued, and I watched all of the games this past week.  They are 27-32 so far (3-3 this past week) and in fourth place in the NL West division.
