Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 7 April 2024

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Board Meeting on Wednesday.  Reported on the newsletter, Research Group meeting and DNA Interest Group meeting.

2)  Wrote, edited and published the April 2024 edition of the CVGS "Family history Gazette" newsletter.

3)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) DNA Interest Group meeting with Kathy Fernandes speaking about "Shared Matches."

6)  The latest "Memories" blog post is What We Did On Our 1998 Mid-Atlantic States Vacation.

7)  My famous cousin this past week is 9th cousin Patsy Cline (1932-1963), the Country Music Singer.

8)  AncestryDNA now has 45,671 DNA matches (up 37 from 31 March) with 1939 "close" matches for me today, with no new ThruLines.  I added Notes to 1 new Match.   MyHeritageDNA now has 12,430 DNA matches (up 11 from 31 March) for me, with no new Theories (I still have 19).  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

9)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 50,884 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 16).

10) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 72,504 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 23), and 146,747 source citations (up 29).  Resolved 275 Ancestry Hints. TreeShared 130 new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree.  My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 14,763 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

11) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which 3 were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 24 to 30 March 2024 with over 200 views.  Genea-Musings had about 37,400 page views last week and over 122,000 for the past month.

12)  Real life:  This is week 213 (four years on) since COVID restrictions started.   I visited Linda every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility and we played Uno. Went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.  Bought a new iPhone 13 on Thursday and switched my service from Verizon to Cox, saving $80 a month.  Attended the church Men's Bible Study on Saturday.  I'm still reading Jonathan Kellerman's Unnatural History.  Watched the NCAA basketball tournament Final 4  games.  My Padres went 2-4 this week and are 5-7 on the season.
