Seavers in the News -- 1978 Obituary of Guy O. Seaver (1890-1978) of Johnson City, Tennessee

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Press Sun [Johnson City, Tenn.] newspaper dated Sunday, 20 August 1978, page 2, Column 8:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides the decedent's name, death day, age, birth place, spouse's name, parents' names, children names, siblings names, military service, place of work, some associations, but not birth date or marriage information.

Guy Orlando Seaver (1890-1978) was born 21 September 1890 in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of George Curry and  Mary Ruth "Molly" (Reeve) Seaver.  He died 19 August 1978 in Johnson City.  Guy Orlando Seaver married Ruth Lyle McCorkle (1898-1985) on 9 May 1920 in Washington County, Tennessee, and they had two children:

*  Ruth Constance "Connie" Seaver (1921-2012), married 1939 Robert Otis Wood (1913-1995).
*  Shirley Ann Seaver (1926-2015), married William Ralph Buher (1922-1987)

I am not related to Guy Orlando Seaver.  He is a descendant of Henry and Elizabeth (--?--) Seaver of Virginia.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this is one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary names a lot of family members.  I am glad that I can honor Guy Orlando Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
