Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Night again -
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
1) Every one of your ancestors was doing "something" in their life in early 1925. Do you know, or do you have to guess?
2) Tell us about what your ancestors were doing in early 2025 in your own blog post, in a comment on this post, or in a Facebook post. Please leave a link on this post if you write your own post.
Here's mine:
In early 1925, these are my living ancestors and what they were doing as far as I know:
- My father, Frederick Walton Seaver Jr. (1911-1983) was age 13, living with his parents and five siblings at 290 Central St. in Leominster, Mass. He was attending school, probably in grade 7. I'm not sure he was learning anything except goofing off as a teenage boy. His sisters say that he really disrupted their time with their boyfriends.
- My paternal grandfather, Frederick Walton Seaver Sr.(1876-1942) was age 49, and was employed at Paton Manufacturing Company in Leominster, Mass. as a plant superintendent of a plastics factory.
- My paternal grandmother, Alma Bessie (Richmond) Seaver (1882-1962) was age 42, and resided at 290 Central Steeet in Leominster. She was a wife to Frederick Sr. and mother to six children, 4 daughters and 2 sons, and certianly did housework. She was the organist at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Leominster. She also taught piano lessons.
- My mother, Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002) was age 5, living with her parents at 2130 Fern Street in San Diego, California. She was in the first grade at Brooklyn Elementary School in San Diego.
- My maternal grandfather, Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976) was age 33, living with his wife and daughter at 2130 Fern Street in San Diego. He was employed by Marston's Department Store in downtown San Diego and was probably an office worker, perhaps a bookkeeper.
- My maternal grandmoher, Emily Kemp (Auble) Carringer (1899-1977) was age 24, was a wife to Lyle and a mother to Betty. She was probably a full-time housewife and worked on her garden and greenhouse in her spare moments.
- My mother's maternal great-grandmother, Georgianna (Kemp) Auble (1868-1952) was a widow and resided with Lyle and Emily and Betty at 2130 Fern Street. She helped with the housework, as a babysitter, and was an election worker during election times.
- My mother's paternal great-grandfather, Henry Austin Carringer (1853-1946) was age 71 and resided at 2105 30th Street in San Diego with his wife and mother-in-law. He was working in 1925 as a carpenter, probably for a furniture store.
- My mother's paternal great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944) was age 62 and resided at 2105 30th Street with her husband and mother. Della worked as a housewife, the family business person, a babysitter, and in her garden.
- My mother's paternal 2nd great-grandmother, Abigial A. (Vaux) Smith (1844-1931) was age 80 and resided with Austin and Della at 2105 30th Street. She probably did light housework, sewing and gardening.
That's all of my ancestors that were alive in early 1925.
