Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your RootsTech 2025 Plans

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.

1)  'Twas the week before RootsTech 2025, and all through the house, the genealogists were checking their RootsTech schedule.  What classes are you looking forward to watching online (for FREE) or attending in-person?

2) Tell us about your plans for RootsTech 2025 in your own blog post, in a comment on this post, or in a Facebook post.  Please leave a link on this post if you write your own post.

Here's mine:

I spent some time and picked out 51 classes to watch online last weekend and now My Schedule shows only 19 classes.  I don't think classes were canceled.  I complained on the FamilySearch Influencers Facebook group.

The classes I selected to watch include the three Keynote talks at 10 a.m. PT, the three Forum panels, somealmost all of the AI centric talks, some DNA talks, and some traditional genealogy talks.

The AI-centric talks I want to watch are (all times PT):
  • Wednesday, 3 p.m.:  Discover Your DNA Story with DaNA: Your AI Guide
  • Wednesday, 3 p.m.:  FamilySearch Full Text Search Is Even Better by Robert Raymond
  • Thursday, 2 p.m.:  AI Genealogy: Year Two: The 2025 Outlook: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re At, Where We’re Headed by Steve Little.
  • Thursday, 3 p.m.:  Efficient Locality Research with AI: Discovering New Avenues of Exploration by Diana Elder.
  • Thursday, 6:15 p.m.:  How Can Artificial Intelligence Assist Family Historians by andrew Redfern
  • Friday, 8:30 a.m.:  Beginning with AI Genealogy: Getting Started with Generative Artificial Intelligence in 2025 by Steve Little.
  • Friday, 3:30 p.m.:  Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Genealogy by a panel
  • Saturday, 8:30 a.m.:  AI-Powered Transcription of Handwritten Documents: Tools and Techniques by Nicole Dyer.
  • Saturday, 12:30 p.m.:  Learning to Use AI Tools: Taking Your Prompting Skills to the Next Level by Steve Little.
I now have 42 classes on the MySchedule List - we'll see if those "stick" until the conference.
