Randy's Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 27 July 2025

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week (ending Sunday, 27 July 2025).

1) Participated in Mondays With Myrt on 21 JulyWe discussed Ancestry.com's Club 1890, FamilySearch Full Text Search and the Research Wiki, and genealogical society benefits.

2)  Transcribed the 1831 Land Deed of Martin Carringer to Jacob Conrad  in Holmes County, Ohio with help finding it and transcribing it from FamilySearch Full-Text Search.  The transcription required many corrections because of the poor handwriting.

3)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for 2nd Great-GrandAunt Olive F. (Oatley) Burton (1834-1884) of New England for the 52 Relatives theme.

4) Curated genealogy-related articles to keep myself and my readers updated on the genealogy world in:

5)  Wrote two "ABC Biographies" using my AI-assisted "Ancestor Biography Creation" process and an AI-assisted memoir, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack, in:

6)  Requested free AI tools to tell me about these genealogy and family history subjects, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack:

7)  Requested free AI tools to create a poem, song lyrics and a podcast about my 3rd great-grandmother, Sarah (Feather) Carringer (1804-1848) and had Suno.com create a song using the lyrics.  Posted the poem created by X Grok 3, the song lyrics created by Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4, the Suno song link, and the ContentLM podcast link in "Sarah's Song"-- A Family History Poem, Song and Podcast Created by Artificial Intelligence on Genea-Musings and Substack.

8)  Posted another of my life memories on Genea-Musings and Substack - see Monday Memories - Our First Valentine's Day.

9)  Used Canva to create YouTube videos of several AI-assisted ancestor songs from Suno and the NotebookLM Podcasts.  Created more videos using Canva and added them to YouTube.  Summarized the currently available songs and podcasts in Adding Ancestor Songs and Podcasts To My YouTube Channel.

10)  My AncestryDNA now has 49,577 DNA matches (up 45 from 20 July) with 2,103 "close" matches today (up 3), with one new ThruLines.  Added Notes to 1 Match, and added no new DNA match lines to RootsMagic.  MyHeritageDNA now has 13,675 DNA matches (up 17 from 20 July) for me.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

11)  Searched for more records of ancestral families on Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage, downloaded record images to my digital file folders, and added research notes, events and sources to RootsMagic profiles.  My RootsMagic family tree now has 74,654 profiles (up 7 from last week)  and 147,827 source citations (up 6).

12) Wrote 22 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was Ask AI: "Ten Interview Questions to Ask David Auble (1817-1894) About His Life Experiences, With Potential Answers" with over 242 views.  Genea-Musings had about 202,000 page views last week and over 900,000 views over the past month (lots of bots I fear).

13)  Real life events:  Visited Linda several days at her memory care facility and we played Uno. Went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Lori came to visit on Saturday and Logan from Nebraska on Sunday, and we visited Linda, went out to dinner, etc.  Lori is helping declutter again and cooking meals for me.  Still reading Hot Springs by Stephen Hunter.  The Padres season continues and I watched the seven Padres games this week - they were 3-4 this past week (overall 57-49 now).
