Daniel Seaver (1767-1851) was born 28 June 1767 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, the son of Norman and Sarah (Read) Seaver.  Daniel died 13 April 1851 in Schenevus, Otsego County, New York.  He married Sarah Chase (1773-1823) before 1799, probably in Otsego County, New York.  They had eight children:

*  Relief "Leafe" Seaver (1799-1871), married 1829 Ephraim Boardman (1807-1856).
*  Norman Seaver (1801-1834).
*  Zenas Seaver (1803-1882), married before 1842 Clarissa Kelsey (1806-1886).
*  Isaac Seaver (1805-1829)
*  Hannah Seaver (1807-????).
*  Daniel Hiram Seaver (1807-1875), married before 1839 Esther Charlotte Kelsey (1817-1874).
*  Richard Seaver (1812-????).
*  Sarah Louisa Seaver (1813-1891), married 1836 George Van Zandt (1809-1887).

Unfortunately, this record does not provide the names of the heirs of his son, Isaac Seaver.  However, son Richard Seaver was bequeathed money from the estate so he was still alive.

Daniel Seaver (1767-1851) is my 4th great-grand uncle, the son of my fifth great-grandparents Norman and Sarah (Read) Seaver.

"A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another."

Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 10 to 16 September 2023

 Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  FamilySearch’s Fan Chart View Feature for Your Family Tree! by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes In Your Family.

*  Two Jonathans? by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  Growing Old in Genealogy by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  Must Love: Rejected Native American Tribal Applications by Kathleen Brandt on a3Genealogy.

*  Genealogy Organizing: How I Do It by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  6 Reasons Why Taking an Autosomal DNA Test Can Bring New Insights Into Your Known Ancestry by Candace on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

*  Thank you, David by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.

*  If you’re interested in genealogy, there are many ways to dive into your family history and learn more about your ancestors by Coni Dubois on Ever-Widening Circle.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 15th Sept 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - September 16, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Analyze Your 3rd Great-Grandparents AncestryDNA ThruLines

  Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):

1)  If you have AncestryDNA ThruLines results, which set of 3rd great-grandparents has the most ThruLines? [Note:  Go to Ancestry.com home age, then "DNA" tab, then "ThruLines" tab and run your mouse over each of your ancestors to see the number of ThruLines for each ancestor].  Analyze your ThruLines from these ancestors.  Are they all "correct?"

[If you don't have AncestryDNA, but have another DNA test provider, analyze those results for your 3rd great-grandparents.]

2)  Write your own blog post, or leave a comment on this post, or write something on Facebook.

Here's mine:

The third great-grandparents with the most ThruLines are John Rich (1790-1868) and Rebecca Hill (1790-1862) with 38 ThruLines.  This couple resided in Hilperton in Wiltshire in England.  I have 21 ThruLines through their daughter, my 2nd great-grandmother Hannah Rich (1824-1911) who married James Richman (1821-1912) and migrated to the USA in 1856.  The other 17 ThruLines are through five other children of John and Rebecca (Hill) Rich.

Of the 17 "other" ThruLines, the highest number of centiMorgans is 108 cM in 5 segments - the relationship is 3rd cousin once removed.  The other relationships of these 17 are mostly 4th cousins or 4th cousins once removed. There are 8 ThruLines in this group that share at least 20 cM with me.  There are 3 ThruLines in those 17 that share 10 cM or less with me, and they are all likely my cousins.

I think that 37 of the 38 ThruLines are "correct" according to my research.  The ThruLine that is "incorrect" has the wrong child connected to Hannah (Rich) Richman, but is likely related through another child of John and Rebecca (Hill) Rich.

=======================================================

My friend and SDGS colleague, Marshall, has come up with a way to determine which collections are ADDED, DELETED or UPDATED, and to alphabetize the entries in each category. Thanks to Marshall for helping me out here!

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link). It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.
