Treasure Chest Thursday - 1707 Birth Record of Joseph Colbey of Amesbury, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1707 birth record of Joseph Colbey in the Amesbury, Massachusetts vital record book:

The Joseph Colby birth record:

The transcription of this record is:

"[COLBEY] Joseph, s. Joseph and Anne, July 30, 1707."

The source citation for this record is:

Town of Amesbury, Massachusetts, Vital Records of Amesbury, Massachusetts to the End of the Year 1849 (Topsfield, Mass. : Topsfield Historical Society, 1913), Births, page 56, Joseph Colbey entry.

This is a Derivative Source record, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth date, birth place, and parents names.  The original source was probably a handwritten Amesbury town record that is no longer available.

Joseph Colby (1707-after 1768) was the son of Joseph Colby (1680-1754) and Anne Bartlett (1684-1721), who married in 1704 in Amesbury.  Joseph Colby (1707-after 1768) is my 6th great-grandfather.  He married Abigail Worthen (1714-????) in 1736 in Amesbury.  I am descended through their daughter Hannah Colby (1745-????), who married John Underhill (1745-1816).
