My Day 2 at RootsTech Connect 2021

Day 2 for me started at about 2 p.m. on Thursday until about 2 p.m. on Wednesday.  My usual genealogy activities and real life have interrupted my session watching, but that's OK because the Sessions will be on the RootsTech site for a year.  However, the Chats, Expo Hall, Song Contest and Relatives at RootsTech will be taken down on Sunday.

I watched a number of sessions in the past 24 hours, including:

*  Nicole Dyer's "How to Interpret a DNA Cluster Chart."  This provides basic information which is useful for beginners and intermediates.

*  Kitty Cooper's "Why Contribute Your Research To a One World Collaborative Tree."  Kitty covers FamilySearch Family Tree, WikiTree, and Geni - but only the "why" and brief comparsions.

*  Andy Lee's 3-part series on "Bring Your Genealogical Society Into the 21st Century"  Pretty good summary of what's available for genealogy societies to work efficiently.

*  Karen Stanbary's "Ruling Out Instead of Ruling In: DNA & the GPS In Action".  Interesting concept.

*  Debbie Kennet's "Genetic Genealogy Meets CSI."  Debbie reviews the issues and experience with law enforcement using autosomal DNA matches.

*  Ron Tanner's "What's New in FamilySearch."  This covers the last year of changes implemented in FamilySearch Family Tree.

I signed up for the Zoom meeting for the Desktop Diner at 1 p.m. today, and there were over 200 RootsTech attendees just brimming over with excitement that they could actually talk to other attendees face to face. This was fun!  I went to two Breakout sessions, first with Diane L. Richard for "Donuts with Diane," and then Richard Bernard for the "Hot Fudge Volcanic Brownie."  This was over too soon - I had several more Breakout sessions I wanted to attend.  I took a screen shot of the main room near the end:

I am up to 100,114 Relatives at RootsTech, and have reached the limit of 150 Friends on the website.  I Friended my top 100 (5th cousins or closer) or so plus people I know.  The Friends remain on the app until 20 March 2021 but I think the website goes away after Sunday.

That's Day 2.  There's one more Day to go, and I'm going to watch more sessions, chat with vendors in the Expo Hall, and attend the Ambassadors After Party on Saturday at 1 p.m. PST.
