Seavers in the News - William Earl Seaver Dies in 1955 in Los Angeles, California

  It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Kokomo [Ind.] Tribune newspaper dated 2 March 1955:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides the name, death date and place, birth date and place, parents names, spouse's name, children's names and siblings names, plus limited information about his life's work.

William Earl Seaver (1874-1955) was born on 7 June 1874 in Patriot, Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of Greenberry McKinsey and Madeline (Douglas) Seaver.  He died 1 March 1955 in Los Angeles.  He married Cora Lenore Bell (1872-1961) on 10 April 1897 in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana.  They had three children:

*  Mazie Bell Seaver (1898-1987), married 1920 Harry A. Davies (1895-1953).
*  Mary Madeline Seaver (1906-1994), married (1) 1928 Lester Quinton Harness (1901-1949); (2) Richard Ernest Kerschner (1904-1971).
*  Edgar Earl Seaver (1909-1997), married 1947 Lela May Long (1918-1987).

I am not related, as far as I know, to William Earl Seaver.  His Seaver line goes back to German immigrant Henry Seaver (1743-1810), who settled in Virginia in about 1770.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a lifetime of working hard and serving his community. I am glad that I can honor William Earl Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
