Seavers in the News -- Mrs. Clara E. Seaver Dies in Ohio in 1961

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the The Akron [Ohio] Beacon-Journal newspaper dated 16 August 1961:

The transcription of the article is:

"Mrs. Clara E. Seaver

"TALLMADGE -- Mrs. Clara E. Seaver, 48 of 839 East av., died Tuesday at Akron City Hospital after a week's illness.

"Mrs. Seaver, a native of Cuyahoga Falls, moved here seven years ago.  She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses in the Falls.

"She leaves her husband, Everett; three sons, Harry E., Glenn F., and James W. of the Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Bittner of the Falls and Lois at home; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Albers of the Falls.

"Services will be Friday at 1 pm. at the Clifford Funeral home in te Falls.  John W. Donnewirth officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in the Falls.  Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m."

This obituary provides the name, age, birthplace, mother's name, spouse's name, children names, death date and place, one association, and residence, but no occupation information.  

Clara E. Albers (1909-1961) was born 28 October 1909 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the daughter of Harry Eugene and Elizabeth (Babb) Albers.  She married Everett Frazier Seaver (1908-2000) on 8 December 1930 in Summit County, Ohio.  They had five children:

*  Harry Edward Seaver (1931-1999), married 1954 Eleanor Joan Swisher (1934-2001).

*  Glenn Fulton Seaver (1932-2019), marred 1953 Marilyn Elaine Balcom (1936-2020).

*  James Walter Seaver (1933-2019), married 1955 Carol Jean Balcom (1937-2011).

*  Susan Rae Seaver (1938-2020), married 1957 Henry Bittner (1932-2016).

*  Lois Carolyn Seaver (1949-2014).

I am not related to Everett Frazier Seaver (1908-2000).  He is descended from Henty and Elizabeth (--?--) Seaver who migrated to Virginia from Germany in the mid-1700s.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary provides a nice list of the family members. I am glad that I can honor Clara E. (Albers) Seaver today.
