Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Research Group meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with about 32 attendees. We discussed the USCIS fee hike, the BCG webinars, FamilySearch and MyHeritage 2022 highlights, the new Finding Your Roots season, RootsTech 2023, my year-end blog posts, StoryWorth, and 2023 goals. The discussion period included questions about genealogy-related gifts, 2023 genealogy goals, and topics for future research group meetings.
2) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) Annual Meeting on Zoom in webinar format. Judy G. Russell presented four talks on "Where There Is – or Isn’t – a Will"; "How Old Did He Have To Be…?"; "Laws of the Indies: Spanish Colonial laws and the records they produced;" and “Twelve Good and Lawful Men” on Jury Lists in Genealogy.
3) Wrote a genealogical sketch for #740 7th great-grandfather William Ladd (1665-1729) of Portsmouth and Little Compton, Rhode Island for the 52 Ancestors series.
4) Transcribed a probate record for the Amanuensis Monday series -- 1729 Will of William Ladd (1665-1729) of Little Compton, Rhode Island.
7) AncestryDNA now has 41,700 DNA matches (up 58 from 9 January) for me today, with no new ThruLines. I added no Notes to my matches. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,978 DNA matches (up 20 from 9 January) for me, with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.
9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,325 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 61 since 9 January), and 145,553 source citations (up 43). I TreeShared 25 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 330 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 173,057 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week. I resolved no MyHeritage Record Matches, leaving 162,438 Record Matches in 285 sources and I work on them occasionally.
10) Wrote 16 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was A Blast From the Past -- The Visit to TGN (Ancestry) in January 2009 by Genealogy Communicators with over 220 views. Genea-Musings had about 9,800 views last week.
