Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 7 to 13 May 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Ancestry Updates: BETA Family Tree Views and Toolbox Icons by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes in Your Family.

*  ChatGPT and GEDCOM Files by Dr. Mac on A Week of Genealogy.

*  Uncovering the True Identity of James William Johnson: Part 3 Adding DNA Evidence by Michelle Mickelson on Family Locket.

*  3 Digital Collection Resources for New York by Gena Philibert-Ortega on Legacy News.

*  Documenting Descendants of Enslaved Laborers: Reconnecting Families and Overcoming Research Challenges by Shelley Murphy on Family Tree Girl.

*  Billions and Billions by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  Collaboration is not Cheating by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*  Free Online Genealogy Website of the Day – Google Databases by Kenneth Marks on The Ancestor Hunt.

*  Tutorial: Use The Internet Archive for Genealogy by Sunny Jane Morton on Family Tree Magazine.

*  4 Awesome Genetic Genealogy Tools I Can’t Live Without by Elizabeth Swanay O'Neal on Heart of the Family.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 12th May 2023 by Crissouli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - May 13, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy, thanks once again for the shout out on my blog post. I hope Linda enjoyed her peanut brittle for Mother's Day!

Thank you for the mention, Randy! I hope you're feeling better (though, it seems nothing slows you down)!
