Treasure Chest Thursday - 1942 Honeymooners at Laguna Beach, California

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is a newspaper article about my parents staying at a Laguna Beach hotel in the Los Angeles Times newspaper dated 26 July 1942:

The transcription of the article is:

"Angelenos Trek to Laguna Beach

"By the seashore at Laguna Beach at Laguna Shores Hotel have been a number of Los Angeles vacationists.  Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Jochim, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Seaver and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Adamson have been there meeting guests from other parts of California.

"Visiting from other towns and cities have been M. and Mrs. Leslie Bliss of San Marino, Mr. and Mrs. Avery Allen of Bakersfield and Mr. and Mrs. James Blackman of San Francisco."

The source citation for this article is:

"Angelenos Trek to Laguna Beach,  The Los Angeles [Calif.] Times  newspaper, Sunday, 26 July 1942, page 65, column 1, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Seaver mention; indexed database and digital image, accessed in Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 31 May 2023).

My parents, Frederick Walton and Betty Virginia (Carringer) Seaver, were married on 12 July 1942 in San Diego.  They honeymooned in Orange County, but I did not know which hotel they enjoyed.  This article gives me the name of the hotel - the Laguna Shores Hotel.  It may be located at 419 N. Coast Blvd. in Laguna Beach, the present address of the Laguna Shores Studio Suites, which look fairly new on their web page.

Of course, my parents were from San Diego and not Los Angeles, but we all know that not every newspaper article is totally accurate.  At least they spelled the name right!
