Seavers in the News -- Nadine H. Seaver Dies in 1973 in Ferrisburgh, Vermont

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Burlington [Vt.] Free Press newspaper dated 26 June 1973, page 6:

The transcription of the article is:

"NADINE H. SEAVER

"FRRISBURG -- Nadine H. Seaver, 71, of Ferrisburg, died at her home here June 19.

"She was born in Bennington Aug. 19, 1902, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Webster O'Dell.  She worked many years at Basin Harbor.

"She leaves her husband Richard Seaver of White River Junction; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Alexander of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Pennucci of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; a brother, Harry O'Dell of Hicksville, N.Y.,; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

"She had donated her body to the University of Vermont."

"Nadine H. Seaver," The Burlington [Vt.] Free Press newspaper, Tuesday, 26 June 1973, page 6, column 4, Nadine H. Seaver obituary,   Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 29 May 2023).

This obituary identifies her married name, residence, age, birth date and place, names of her parents, her husband, her living daughters and brother, but not much on her work and association histories.

Nadine Marie (Youngs) (O'Dell) Hayden (1901-1973) was born 19 August 1901 in Bennington, Vermont, the daughter of William Webster and Mrs. (--?--) O'Dell, per the obituary.  The O'Dell's may have been adoptive parents.  She died 19 June 1973 in Ferrisburgh, Vermont.  Nadine married Richard Leach Seaver (1905-1988) on 24 September 1955 in Woodstock, Vermont, as her third husband.  Her name on the marriage record is Nadine Youngs Hayden, with parents of John M. and Julie (Amol) Youngs.  She was married to Arthur Elmer Buell in 1918 and to Irving Nelson Hayden in 1926.  She had the two daughters by her other husbands, since she would have been about 54 at her marriage with Richard Seaver.

Richard Leach Seaver (1907-1988) is my 7th cousin twice removed, with common Seaver ancestor of my 8th great-grandfather, Shubael Seaver (1640-1729).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person is a real mystery with few, if any, records. I am glad that I can honor  Nadine H. (O'Dell) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
