Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Board Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom. I reported on the Newsletter, the Research Group and DNA Interest Group.
2) Wrote, edited, published and distributed the CVGS Family History Gazette newsletter for CVGS members and put it on the website.
3) Attended the SDGS DNA Interest Group meeting on Saturday, with Kathy Fernandes speaking on "How To Guide" to deal with DNA matches.
4) Watched several presentations from the WikiTree Symposium and will watch several more.
5) Wrote a genealogical sketch for #959 7th great-grandmother Mary (Morgan) Bloodgood (1676-a1730) of Flushing, New York for the 52 Ancestors theme. This is my 502nd post in this series.
6) Transcribed the 1885 Will of George Arthur Seaver (1830-1899) of Brooklyn, New York and New Orleans, Louisiana for the Amanuensis Monday theme.
7) AncestryDNA now has 44,289 DNA matches (up 34 from 29 October) for me today, with no new ThruLines. I added Notes to 11 matches, and the DNA Match line for 3 ThruLines to RootsMagic. MyHeritageDNA now has 11,912 DNA matches (up 40 from 29 October) for me, with no new Theories. Checked for triangulated groups for one MyHeritageDNA match and added notes to about 5 matches. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.
9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 71,631 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (down 13), and 146,273 source citations (up 14). Resolved 81 Ancestry Hints. TreeShared 283 new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 12,819 to be resolved (something happened to my Hints, I have 165,000 fewer than last week), but I work on them several times a week.
10) Wrote 16 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 28 October to 3 November 2023 with over 128 views. Genea-Musings had about 10,200 page views last week.
