I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite and most priceless family photographs:
Linda and I had a three week vacation in England in the summer of 1993, and we visied London, York, Edinburgh, Burton-on-Trent, Oxford, Ashton Keynes, Bath, Trowbridge, Longleat, Salisbury, Stonehenge, and back to England - all on the train with a BritRail pass and staying in bed-and-breakfast places. It was great.
I did some genealogy research in Ashton Keynes (a Richmond manor house in olden days), and in Trowbridge at the CRO, and went out to the Hilperton church (where my Richmans migrated from in 1856) but the church was locked. I left a note for the rector, and she called me that night at our BnB in Bath, and mde arrangements to meet at the church on Sunday morning. We took a taxi from Bath for £25 and saw the bellringing, met the rector and the church vestryman, and took this photo on the doorstep of St. Michael and All Angels Church in Hilperton.
The vestryman was Mr. Potts, and he looked some information up for me in the Parish chest, and then drove us to the train station in Trowbridge.
This photograph is a part of my family history. I used the MyHeritage Photo tools to enhance the faces and brighten up the image.
