 This week's famous cousin is my 10th cousin Mickey Mantle (1931-1995), the famous New York Yankees baseball player.Ohio State football coach.

When Mickey Mantle was born on 20 October 1931, in Spavinaw, Mayes, Oklahoma, United States, his father, Elven Clark Mantle, was 19 and his mother, Lovell Velma Richardson, was 27. He married Merlyn Louise Johnson on 23 December 1951, in Picher, Ottawa, Oklahoma, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. He lived in Quapaw, Ottawa, Oklahoma, United States in 1950. In 1988, at the age of 57, his occupation is listed as owner of mickey mantle's restaurant and sports bar in New York City, New York, United States. He died on 13 August 1995, in Dallas, Dallas, Texas, United States, at the age of 63, and was buried in Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas, Texas, United States.

Mickey Charles Mantle (October 20, 1931 – August 13, 1995), nicknamed "the Mick" and "the Commerce Comet", was an American professional baseball player. He played his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career (1951–1968) with the New York Yankees, primarily as a center fielder. He is regarded by many as being one of the best players and sluggers of all time. He was an American League (AL) Most Valuable Player three times and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
