Randy's Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 5 January 2025

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week (ending 5 January 2025).

1)  Transcribed the 1881 Notice of Suit by Charles S. Heyman Against Alexander Sovereen for Land in Norfolk County, Ontario for the Amanuensis Monday theme.

2)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for my 2nd Great-GrandUncle Augustus Brigham (1820-1909) of Sterling and Worcester, Massachusetts for the 52 Relatives theme.

5)  Requested free AI tools to create a poem and song lyrics about my paternal 2nd great-grandfather, Edward Hildreth (1831-1899), and had Suno.com create a song using the lyrics.  I posted the poem created by Claude AI, the song lyrics created by Claude AI, and the Suno song MP4, in  "The Craftsman's Tale" -- An Ancestor's Story In Poem and Song Created by Artificial Intelligence.

6)  Compiled end-of-year summaries for:
7)  My AncestryDNA now has 47,621 DNA matches (up 52 from 29 December) with 2010 "close" matches today (up 1), with no new ThruLines.  I added Notes to 3 Matches, and added no new DNA match lines to RootsMagic.   MyHeritageDNA now has 13,135 DNA matches (up 23 from 29 December) for me.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 10 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 52,238 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 39).

9)  Searched for more records of ancestral families on Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage, downloaded record images to my digital file folders, and added research notes, events and sources to RootsMagic profiles.  My RootsMagic family tree now has 73,996 profiles (up 45 from last week) and 147,328 source citations (up 16).  Added more short biographical sketches to ancestors and edited historical place names for a number of families.

10)  Highlighted my 2025 genealogy research and family history goals in Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Genealogy Goals for 2025.

11) Wrote 24 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was Ask AI: "Please describe the challenges faced by Pennsylvania German immigrants in the 1700s" with over 200 views.  Genea-Musings had about 24,600 page views last week and over 263,000 views over the past month.

12)  Real life events:  Visited Linda several days at her memory care facility and we played Uno.  Went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday.  Stayed home on New Year's Eve.  Attended the church Men's Bible Study breakfast on Saturday. I'm still reading A Devil Is Waiting by Jack Higgins.  My SDSU Aztecs won one basketball game, so now 9-3.  My Chargers won this week's game over the Raiders, so now 11-6 on the season and the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs.
