=================================

Aurelius Brigham (1830-1878) is my 2nd great-granduncle and the brother of my 2nd great-grandmother, Sophia (Newton) Seaver (1834-1923).

I have posted over 500 genealogical sketches of  my ancestors back through the 7th great-12 March 1834.grandparents and a number of close relatives.  Information about Lambert Brigham is in  52 Ancestors - Week 413: #38 Lambert Brigham (1794-1834) of Westborough and Sterling, Massachusetts; information about Sophia (Buck) (Brigham) (Newton) Stone is in 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 32: #39 Sophia (Buck) (Brigham) (Newton) Stone (1797-1882).

The "52 Relatives" theme is a weekly series to document the lives of siblings of my ancestors with relatively short genealogical sketches, including important events, and with source citations.  These relatives lived and died within a family structure, and deserve a genealogical sketch - they were integral parts and important persons in the lives of my ancestral families.

I post the 52 Ancestors and 52 Relatives sketches on the 52 Ancestors/Relatives Biographies page, in my Ancestry Member Tree, in WikiTree, and in the FamilySearch Family Tree.

Genealogy Meets Artificial Intelligence: A Panel Discussion

There are a number of webinars and YouTube videos available to help genealogists understand and use Artificial Intelligence tools.  I listed a number of them on my Artificial Intelligence Compendium page here, under the "4. Useful Genealogy and AI Webinars and Videos (2024-2025)" heading.

On 8 January, Legacy Family Tree Webinars held the Genealogy Meets AI: Panel Discussion webinar with Geoff Rasmussen hosting, and these six panelists participating:

  • Blaine Bettinger
  • Diana Elder
  • Steve Little
  • Thomas MacEntee
  • Andred Redfern
  • Mark Thompson

Each panelist answered two questions suggested by Geoff's prompt, and then each presented live demonstrations of a task or use of an AI tool that they have used.

It was an interesting and intriguing discussion and I enjoyed watching it.  I hope to use some of the  tools and techniques suggestred by the panelists in my own genealogy and family history research.

This webinar is part of the new "Artificial Intelligence and Genealogy" series that is available to any subscriber to Legacy Family Tree Webinars in 2025.  It is FREE for anyone to watch through 14 January.  To watch it live, or to watch it after 14 January, requires a Legacy Family Tree Webinars subscription (retail $49.95 per year).

This is the first webinar in a series during 2025 that discusses Genealogy and Artificial Intelligence.  The upcoming webinars in 2025 about AI are listed here.

If you are interested in advancing your knoeledge and capabilities to use Artificial Intelligence for your genealogy work, this webinar (and the other ones listed on my Artificial intelligence Compendium page) will be helpful for your understanding and practice.

Randy's Cousins -- 8th Cousin 1x Removed Warren Gamaliel Harding (1865-1923) - the 29th President of the United States

This week's famous cousin is my 8th cousin 1x removed Warren Gamaliel Harding (1865-1923) the 29th President of the United States.

Here is Warren Gamaliel Harding's Family Search Family Tree short biography:

When President Warren Gamaliel Harding was born on 2 November 1865, in Bloominggrove Township, Richland, Ohio, United States, his father, Dr. George Tryon Harding, was 21 and his mother, Dr. Phoebe Elizabeth Dickerson, was 21. He married Florence Mabel Kling on 8 July 1891, in Marion, Marion, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Marion, Marion, Ohio, United States for about 10 years and Washington, District of Columbia, United States in 1920. He died on 2 August 1923, in San Francisco, California, United States, at the age of 57, and was buried in Marion Cemetery, Marion, Marion, Ohio, United States.

The Wikipedia profile for Warren Gamaliel Harding includes this information:

Warren Gamaliel Harding (November 2, 1865 – August 2, 1923) was the 29th president of the United States, serving from 1921 until his death in 1923. A member of the Republican Party, he was one of the most popular sitting U.S. presidents while in office. After his death, a number of scandals were exposed, including Teapot Dome, as well as an extramarital affair with Nan Britton, which tarnished his reputation.

Harding lived in rural Ohio all his life, except when political service took him elsewhere. As a young man, he bought The Marion Star and built it into a successful newspaper. Harding served in the Ohio State Senate from 1900 to 1904, and was lieutenant governor for two years. He was defeated for governor in 1910, but was elected to the United States Senate in 1914—the state's first direct election for that office. Harding ran for the Republican nomination for president in 1920, but was considered a long shot before the convention. When the leading candidates could not garner a majority, and the convention deadlocked, support for Harding increased, and he was nominated on the tenth ballot. He conducted a front porch campaign, remaining mostly in Marion and allowing people to come to him. He promised a return to normalcy of the pre–World War I period, and defeated Democratic nominee James M. Cox in a landslide to become the first sitting senator elected president.

Harding appointed a number of respected figures to his cabinet, including Andrew Mellon at Treasury, Herbert Hoover at Commerce, and Charles Evans Hughes at the State Department. A major foreign policy achievement came with the Washington Naval Conference of 1921–1922, in which the world's major naval powers agreed on a naval limitations program that lasted a decade. Harding released political prisoners who had been arrested for their opposition to World War I. In 1923, Harding died of a heart attack in San Francisco while on a western tour, and was succeeded by Vice President Calvin Coolidge.

Here is the Relative Finder chart showing my relationship to Warren Gamaliel Harding:

My most recent common ancestors with 8th cousin 1x removed
Warren Gamaliel Harding are my 8th great-grandparents Edward Thurston (1622-1706) and Elizabeth Mott (1629-1694).

Are you related to Warren Gamaliel Harding?  Check out his profile on the FamilySearch Family Tree and click the "View Relationship" link at the top of the page.  Note that you have to have your profile connected to the FamilySearch Family Tree in order for this to work.

This shows that you never know to whom you might be related!!!  I'm having lots of Genealogy Fun.  Click here to see all of my famous cousins.

Treasure Chest Thursday - 1672 Birth Record for Percival Hall in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - an opportunity to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history research and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1672 birth record of Percival Hall in the Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony vital records book:
The 1672 birth entry for Persivall Hall  is in the Hall entries:

The transcription of the information on this record is:

"[HALL]  Persivall, s. of John and Elizab[eth], Feb. 11, 1672"

The source citation for this census record is:

Thomas W. Baldwin (compiler), Vital Records of Cambridge, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1915), Births, page 319, Persivall Hall, 11 February 1672, son of John and Elizabeth Hall.

This is a Derivative Source record (because it is a compilation of information copied from an original town record book) with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the name, birth place and birth date of Percival Hall and his parents.

Percival Hall (1672-1752), son of John and Elizabeth (Greene) Hall, was born 11 February 1671 in Medford, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and died 25 December 1752 in Sutton, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  He married Jane Willis (1677-1757), daughter of Thomas and Grace (Tay) Willis, born 9 April 1677 in Woburn, Massachusetts Bay Colony, died 28 October 1757 in Sutton, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  They had at least 12 children.

Percival Hall and Jane Willis are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Jane Hall (1700-1769) who married Jonas Rice (1707-1793) in Worcester, Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1728.
