Elizabeth "Betsey" Seaver was born 18 February 1779 in Townsend, the daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Wood) Seaver.  She never married, and had no children.  She died intestate 5 November 1843 in Townsend, owning real and personal property.  Her parents and three siblings had died before 1843, so the heirs-at-law according to Massachusetts law at the time were her siblings and the children of her deceased siblings.

The papers in the Probate File 41,271 in Middlesex County Probate Court records include:

*  20 November 1843:  Probate Court ordered Robert Jefts, James Gilcrest and John P. Clements to appriase the estate of Betsey Seaver, and they accepted.

*  24 November 1843:  Inventory of estate taken by Robert Jefts, John P. Clements, and James Gitchnest.  Real estate (one half of the undivided homestead farm in Townsend) was apprised at $375, and the personal property at $199.07, for a total of $574.07.

*  5 December 1843:  Petition by four siblings requesting that Joel Emery be appointed administrator o the estate.

*  5 December 1843:  Memorandum and Bond of by Joel Emery, who was appointed administrator of estate.

*  4 May 1844:  Affidavit by Joel Emery that he notified the heirs and community of his administration and requested a list of debts and credits be provided to him.

*  5 November 1844:  First account filed by Joel emery and accepted by the Judge of Probate.  It included charges, debts and credits totaling $111.37, leaving $87.70  in personal property to be distributed to the heirs.

*  5 November 1844:  A list of heirs and the amount awarded was provided and approved by the Judge of Probate.

Elizabeth "Betsey" Seaver was my 4th cousin 6 times removed, with our common Seaver ancestor being Robert Seaver (1608-1683) of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

"A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another."
