Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 4 February 2024

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) General Meeting on Wednesday with Nancy Loe as the speaker with "Picture This: Cataloguing Digital Photos."

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) DNA Interest Group on Saturday with Kathleen Fernandes presenting "What's in a Picture?: Visualizing DNA and Family Relationships"

3)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for my grandaunt in 52 Relatives: Grace Louise (Richmond) (Shaw) Moody (1876-1963) of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

4)  Transcribed the 1881 Will of Horatio N. Seaver (1832-1884) of Rock\County, Wisconsin for the Amanuensis Monday theme.

5)  Made MyHeritage AI Biographies for another 30 ancestors of myself and saved them in a file.  There are still more to do, but I'm against the 100 maximum allowed.  I want to share them with our children and our brothers.

6)  Started working on My Schedule for RootsTech 2024 and wrote about it in Start Creating Your RootsTech 2024 Experience Now - New Planning Tool Released  and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- What Are Your RootsTech 2024 Expectations?

7)  Posted about "Relatives at RootsTech" in The Relatives at RootsTech 2024 Experience and checked some of the close cousins (no closer than 4th cousin yet).  Facebook has gone wild over this.

8)  This week's famous relative post was for 7th Cousin 2X Removed Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950), the Noted Author, according to Relative Finder.

9)  AncestryDNA now has 45,128 DNA matches (up 146 from 28 January) for me today, with two new ThruLines (one right, one wrong).  I added Notes to 9 new Matches.    MyHeritageDNA now has 12,110 DNA matches (up 23 from 28 January) for me, with two new Theories (now have 19).  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

10)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 50,526 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 171).

11) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 72,144 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 201), and 146,546 source citations (up 57).  Resolved 561 Ancestry Hints. TreeShared 151 new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree.  My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 15,193 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

12) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three werea press release. The most viewed post last week was
Start Creating Your RootsTech 2024 Experience Now - New Planning Tool Released with over 132 views.  Genea-Musings had about 13,800 page views last week.

13)  Real life:  This is week 204 since COVID restrictions started.   I visited Linda every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility. Went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.  Went to the Men's Bible Study on Saturday. Walked several days on the block and talked to several neighbors.  Finished reading Tess Gerritsen's The Surgeon and am reading James Patterson's Fifty-Fifty. The SDSU Aztec basketball team won one game and they are 17-5 on the season.  It was a pretty quiet week!
