Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 31 March 2024

 Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.  

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) General Meeting on Wednesday.  Pam Vestal presented "“Was Your Ancestor Truly Gone or Just Hidden Within the Records?"

2)  Participated in the "Mondays With Myrt" YouTube video conference for 25 March, and spoke about the need to write stories about the siblings of our ancestors, such as Ann Richman (1851-1853) of Hilperton Marsh, Wiltshire.

3)  Transcribed the 1864 Petition to Partition the Intestate Estate of Lyman H. Seaver (1796-1864) in Walworth County, Wisconsin for the  Amanuensis Monday theme. 

4)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for my great-grandaunt Louisa A. Richman/mond (1852-1940) of Hilperton Marsh, Wiltshire and Putnam, Connecticut for 52 Relatives theme.

5)  Started my new "Memories" blog theme with Memories - Our 1994 New England Summer Vacation.

6)  My famous cousin this past week is 9th cousin Elvis Aaron Presley (1935-1977).

7)  AncestryDNA now has 45,634 DNA matches (up 32 from 25 March) with 1938 "close" matches for me today, with 1 new ThruLines.  I added Notes to 10 new Matches.   MyHeritageDNA now has 12,419 DNA matches (up 25 from 25 March) for me, with no new Theories (I still have 19).  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  

8)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 50,868 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 28).  

9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 72,481 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 27), and 146,718 source citations (up 5).  Resolved 38 Ancestry Hints. TreeShared no new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree.  My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 14,632 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  

10) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which 3 were a press release. The most viewed post last week was DearMYRTLE's Weekly "Mondays With Myrt" Genealogy Discussion Group Videos with over 187 views.  Genea-Musings had about 25,500 page views last week and over 122,000 for the past month.  

11)  Real life:  This is week 212 (four years on) since COVID restrictions started.   I visited Linda every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility and we played Uno. Went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.  Lori and Logan came to visit on Thursday and we've watched basketball and baseball games. Walked several days on the block and talked to the neighbors.   I finished reading Tess Gerritsen's The Keepsake and started Jonathan Kellerman's Unnatural History.  The SDSU Aztec basketball team lost to Connecticut in the NCAA Tournament.  My Padres split 4 games with San Francisco giants and are 3-3 on the season.
