Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Research Group Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday. I reported on the RootsMagic 10, Ancestry ProTools, using task lists in RootsMagic, using ChatGPT-4o to create a research plan and poems, also Suno.com to create songs, and then attendees discussed their research over the past month.
2) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) program meeting on Saturday, with Thomas MacEntee the speaker on "The 15 Habits of Highly Frugal Genealogists" and "AI and Genealogy: Trouble Ahead??"
3) Watched two Family Tree Webinar videos - "10 Reasons Why MyHeritage is a Genealogist’s Best Friend" by Melissa Barker, and "Where Fact Meets Fiction: behind the scenes of a genealogical crime mystery" by Nathan Dylan Goodwin.
4) Transcribed the 1710 Property Distribution of John Wakeman (1660-1709) of Fairfield, Connecticut for the Amanuensis Monday theme.
10) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 73,472 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 42), and 147,019 source citations (up 19). TreeShared 151 new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree. Resolved 180 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 22,943 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.
11) Wrote 16 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one were a press release. The most viewed post last week was Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Favorite Genealogy-Related YouTube Channels with over 127 views. Genea-Musings had about 104,000 page views last week and over 270,000 views for the past month.
