Treasure Chest Thursday - 1682 Birth of Joseph Bulkley (1682-1750) in Fairfield, Connecticut

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - an opportunity to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history research and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1682 birth record of Joseph Bulkley in the Fairfield, Connecticut Vital Records:

The baptism record is the first item listed as Joseph near the bottom of the page:

The transcript of this record is:

"[Bulkley] Joseph, s. Joseph, b. May 9, 1682"

The source citation for the marriage record is (using Evidence Explained 4th edition template):

Fairfield, Connecticut, Vital Records, Joseph Bulkley birth, 9 May 1682, son of Joseph; imaged, "Connecticut, U.S. Town Birth Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection)," Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/570575:1034 : accessed 24 July 2024); Fairfield Vital Records, page 25, image 35 of 162; original book at Connecticut State Library, Hartford, Conn., imaged and indexed by Ancestry.com.

This is a Derivative Source record (because it is compiled from an original town record) with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Joseph Bulkley on 9 May 1682 in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Joseph Bulkeley (1682-1750), the son of Joseph and Martha (Beers) Bulkley, was born in about 9 May 1682 in Fairfield, Connecticut.  He married Esther Bulkley (1684-1726) in about 1703 in Fairfield.  She was born 20 January 1684 in Fairfield, Connecticut, the daughter of John and Esther (Burr) Bulkeley.  Joseph died on 6 May 1750, and Esther died 18 March 1726, both in Fairfield, Connecticut.  They had 5 children.

Joseph and Esther (Bulkley) Bulkley are my 8th great-grandparents, through their daughter Esther Bulkley (1713-1770), who married John Hill (1707-1759).

Disclosure:  I have a paid All-Access subscription to Ancestry.com now.  Ancestry.com has provided a complimentary subscription and material considerations for travel expenses to meetings, and has hosted events and meals that I have attended in Salt Lake City, in past years.
