Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) DNA Interest Group Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday. I reported on the Ancestry ProTools "Enhanced Shared Matches" tool, with props to the Ancestry blog post, Jim Bartlett's posts, and other bloggers' posts; the new RootsMagic 10 DNA matches tool; and attendee discussion of their experiences with the Enhanced Shared Matches tool.
2) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) British Isles Interest Group meeting on Saturday, hosted by Colin Whitney. He discussed "The Parish Chest," which included a great discussion of the Church of England over the centuries, showed examples, and resources to find these records.
3) Attended the Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS) program on Zoom. Dana Palmer presented "Finding Records Using the Resources on FamilySearch." Excellent speaker and presentation.
4) Transcribed the 1702 Will of Ezekiel Bloomfield (1653-1703) of Woodbridge, New Jersey for the Amanuensis Monday theme.
12) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 73,473 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 1), and 147,043 source citations (up 24). TreeShared no new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree. Resolved 252 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 23,614 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.
13) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was MyHeritage Adds Relationship Diagram for Large Family Trees with over 222 views. Genea-Musings had about 121,000 page views last week and over 348,000 views for the past month.
