Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1876 Marriage Record for Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellingsdatter Natvig

This week's Tuesday treasure is the 1876 Marriage record for Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellinsdatter in Deerfield, Dane county, Wisconsin:

The first entry on the page above is:
The transcribed information is:

1/  May 30, 1876; Torger Sjursen Leland; 26; Koshkonong; Sjur T.
Leland & Britha Olsdatter
2/  Anna Ellingsdatter; 23;         Elling Eriksen & Anna Ellingsdtr
3)  Liberty; Sjur T. Leland & Elling Eriksen

The source citation for this record is:

Vesterheim Genealogical Center, Koshkonong Church Records, East West & Liberty Churches, Marriage and Deaths Records, 1844-1987 (Madison, Wis.). Notebook at Norwegian-American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library , page 1186, Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellingsdatter marriage record, 1876

I reviewed this notebook at the Norwegian-American Genealogical Center and Naeseth Library in Madison, Wisconsin.   It is a transcript of the Koshkonong Church records from the East, West and Liberty Churches.

I initially found this record in the Wisconsin Marriage Records, 1820-1907 on microfilm at the FHL, and it was very helpful in defining the parents of both Torger and especially Anna.  I didn't know her parents names before finding the state record.  While Torger was using his adopted Leland name, Anna was not yet using her adopted Natvig name.

Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellingsdatter Natvig are my wife's great-grandparents; both were born in Voss, Norway and migrated to Wisconsin in the 1850 to 1865 time frame.
