Best of the Genea-Blogs - 19 to 25 March 2017

Hundreds of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  GUEST POST: The McGuire Method – Simplified Visual DNA Comparisons by Lauren McGuire on Blaine Bettinger's The Genetic Genealogist blog.

*  The Severe Trials and Responsibilities of Pioneer Life by Michael Dyer on the Family Sleuther blog.

*  It's a Fact. No Discussion Needed. Or Is It? by Elizabeth Shown Mills on the Evidence Explained QuickTips blog.

*  Blog Surfing Research Toolboxes by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.

*  6 “Out Of the Box” Genealogy Resources by Lisa Lisson on the Are You My Cousin? blog.

*  Raw DNA Data: A Missing Piece to Your DNA Puzzle by Diahan Southard on Lisa Louise Cooke's Genealogy Gems blog.

*  GEDmatch Tag Groups plus New One to Many by Kitty Cooper on Kitty Cooper's Blog.

*  Disease, Epidemics, and Your Ancestors by Katy on the Legacy Tree Genealogists blog.

*  Don’t Let Your Research Be Flushed Down the Toilet by the writer of The Ancestry Insider blog.

*  Secrets to Successful Irish Family Research by Niall Cullen on the Findmypast Blog.

*  So you want to pursue certification by Michele Simmons Lewis on the Ancestoring blog.

*  Are You a Genealogist or a Family Historian? by Alona Tester on the Lone Tester HQ blog.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1600 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
