The Charles Douglas Kingsley Seaver Family in the 1921 Census of England & Wales

One of the 1921 Census of England & Wales entries that I have accessed is that of Charles Douglas Kingsley Seaver residing in Epsom, Surrey at Linton, Station Road.  Here is the record image:

The source citation for this record is (I found nothing on the Findmypast pages that showed a typical census citation):

The National Archives [U.K.], "1921 Census of England and Wales,", indexed database with record images, Findmypast (https://www.findmypast.com : accessed 8 January 2021), Surrey, Epsom R.D., Carshalton Sub-District, E.D. 14, Record Group 15, Piece 3079, Schedule No. 165, Charles Douglas Kingsley Seaver household.

In the upper right-hand corner of the page is the Schedule number:  165
In the lower right-hand corner of the page is the signature of the person responsible for making the return:  D.K. Seaver, Capt., RamC

The most interesting information is the lack of a wife and the on-year old child.  Charles D.K. Seaver married Frances Mildred Courtney Fetherston (born about 1891 in Ireland) in about 1911, probably in Ireland.  The Marriage column says that Captain Seaver is married, and the Living child information says that there is a 1-year old child living, but neither Frances or the 1-year old child (named Richard Gordon Seaver) are in the 1921 census.  Perhaps Frances took her baby to Ireland to see her family there.

Knowing that Frances Fetherston is the wife of Captain Seaver, it is obvious that Kathleen Fetherston is probably Frances' sister, and is a "nursing sister" - whatever that means?  Nursing the 3-year old and/or the 1-year old?  Captain Seaver also has a servant, Gladys Gorman from Canada who is a governess to the children.

I think I have wrung all of the information from this census entry.  Or did I miss something?

There were several centers of Seaver families in pre-1921 Ireland.  Charles Douglas Kingsley Seaver was probably born in Newry, County Down, in what is now Northern Ireland, on 25 May 1887 to Richard Whitchurch and Lilian (Douglas) Seaver, and is a descendant of a line of Seavers dating back into the 1600s.

Thanks for the great analysis of this new resource! Nursing sister is just what we would call a nurse
