We Made It to Burbank!! UPDATED!

We made it to Burbank on the 9:25 a.m. Amtrak out of San Diego today, arriving on schedule at 12:47 p.m.  Then we had to wait awhile for the Marriott Hotel van to pick us up, but we're in our room and ready to go.  Let the Genealogy Jamboree begin!!

I have no clue what we'll do this afternoon, but I know we have a dinner planned with some genealogy friends.  Maybe I'll add a photograph or two after we return.  Or not...it depends on the hour and what is happening in the Blogger Lounge between the hotel registration desk and the bar.  Usually, a number of us sit there and type on our laptops or tap on our mobile devices.  And some genea-celebrities come through - one year it was Henry Louis Gates, Jr. accompanied by CeCe Moore.

This was the DNA Day, which I didn't sign up for because I would miss half of it.  Friday is the first day of the Genealogy Jamboree, with classes and the Exhibit Hall opens after lunch.

Stay tuned!  I will try to keep track of the genea-bloggers I see and meet throughout the Jamboree.  And probably post some pictures every day.

UPDATED 6:30 p.m.:  We went to lunch, and from about 2:30 p.m. on we sat in the Blogger Lounge with a number of folks, including Thomas MacEntee, Kim Cotton, Jay Fonkert, Linda Okazaki, Ron Arons, Drew Smith, Jay Holladay, and several others, plus those who stopped briefly to say hello,  and now I can't recall all of them.  I didn't take many pictures, either.  Thomas had the geneabloggers beads and he gave one to Linda too, presumably for being a long suffering geneablogger's spouse.

I went over to the registration area and picked up my bag and put my name tag together, and saw Jane Van Tour.

When the DNA presentations were over, every 90 minutes, the area was flooded by geneabloggers, and I was able to speak briefly with Judy Russell, Angie Bush, Blaine Bettinger and Kitty Cooper.  Then they headed back in for the next session.  I saw Amy Urman and Leslie Carney in the restaurant, they were attending DNA Day.

Glad to see you made it, Randy! Looking forward to the start of Jamboree tomorrow. DNA Day was, as usual, a fully-packed day.

Glad you made it! Looking forward to my first ever free Jamboree the live stream session today. I have a dream...my sister lives in S.D. and hope to attend a future Jamboree someday...maybe next year...I'll need to plan ahead to combine the two visits. It would be my first big genealogy conference. Are there blogs on how to prepare for a conference to make the most of time & money???

Linda is certainly deserving of the beads - she has been to more genealogy conferences than the rest of us!
