Randy's Cousins -- 9th Cousin 1x Removed Rogers Hornsby (1896-1963), the Famous Baseball Player

 This week's famous cousin is my 9th cousin 1x removed Rogers Hornsby (1896-1963), the famous baseball player.

When Rogers Hornsby was born on 27 April 1896, in Winters, Runnels, Texas, United States, his father, Aaron Edward Hornsby, was 38 and his mother, Mary Dallas Rogers, was 33. He married Sarah Elizabeth Martin in 1918. They were the parents of at least 1 son. In 1915, his occupation is listed as major league baseball second baseman, shortstop and third baseman in St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri. He died on 5 January 1963, in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, United States, at the age of 66, and was buried in Hornsby Cemetery, Hornsby Bend, Travis, Texas, United States.

Rogers Hornsby (April 27, 1896 – January 5, 1963), nicknamed "the Rajah", was an American baseball infielder, manager, and coach who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1915–1926, 1933), New York Giants (1927), Boston Braves (1928), Chicago Cubs (1929–1932), and St. Louis Browns (1933–1937). He was named the National League (NL)'s Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice, and was a member of one World Series championship team.
