Randy's Cousins -- 6th Cousin 2x Removed Percival Edward Lowell, the Famous Astronomer

This week's famous cousin is my 6th cousin 2x removed Percival Edward Lowell (1855-1916), the famous astronomer.

When Percival Lawrence Lowell was born on 13 March 1855, in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Augustus Lowell, was 25 and his mother, Katharine Bigelow Lawrence, was 23. He married Constance Savage Keith on 10 June 1908, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States. He lived in Brookline, Norfolk, Massachusetts, United States in 1880 and Boston Ward 11, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States in 1910. He died on 12 November 1916, in Flagstaff, Coconino, Arizona, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Flagstaff, Coconino, Arizona, United States.

Percival Lowell (March 13, 1855 – November 12, 1916) was an American businessman, author, mathematician, and astronomer who fueled speculation that there were canals on Mars, and furthered theories of a ninth planet within the Solar System. He founded the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, and formed the beginning of the effort that led to the discovery of Pluto 14 years after his death.
