Treasure Chest Thursday - 1667 Marriage of Daniel Stone and Mary Ward in Sudbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - an opportunity to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history research and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1667 marriage record for Daniel stone and Mary Wa[r]d in Sudbury, Massachusetts Bay:

The entry for Daniel Stone is the 9th entry for the Stone surname on this image:

The transcription of the information on this record is:

"[STONE] Daniel and Mary Wad, Nov. 22 [1667] M.R."

The source citation for this census record is:

Vital Records of Sudbury, Massachusetts to the year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Marriages, page 272, Daniel Stone and Mary Wad entry, 22 November 1667.

This is a Derivative Source record (because it is compiled from a town record book and then alphabetized and published) with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the names and marriage date of Daniel Stone and Mary Wa[r]d.

Note that the record says "Wad" for Mary Ward's name.  She married as Mary Moore, first, to Richard Ward (1635-1667) in 1661 and they had two children.

Daniel Stone was born 31 August 1644 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of John and Anne (Rogers) Stone.  He died 19 March 1719 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  Daniel married Mary (Moore) Ward (as her second marriage) on 22 November 1667 in Sudbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  Mary was born before 8 January 1641/2 in Barkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Rice) Moore.  She died 10 January 1702/3 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  She was married to Richard Ward (1635-1667) in 1661.   Daniel and Mary (Moore) (Ward) Stone had at least 8 children.

Daniel and Mary (Moore) (Ward) Stone are my 8th great-grandparents, through their daughter Mary Stone (1677-1764) who married Jonas Rice (1673-1753) in 1702.
