"Della's Life Journey" - A Genealogy Poem and Song Created by Artificial Intelligence

I've used FREE Artificial Intelligence tools to create biographies, poems and songs about genealogy and family history in the recent past. Today, I want to share a poem and a song about my great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944).

1)  I requested Microsoft CoPilot, Perplexity, ChatGPT and Claude (all FREE AI tools) to create a  poem about my great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944).  Here is the Prompt I used for the poem and the song about my great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944):

Please create a poem about Della Smith (1862-1944), born in Rolling Prairie, Wisconsin to Devier Smith and Abbie Vaux.  The family moved to Benton, Iowa in 1867, Lincoln, Kansas by 1875, Blue Rapids, Kansas by 1880, Concordia, Kansas in 1881, McCook, Nebraska in 1885.  She had many friends, and was smart and astute.  She bought ranch land in Wano, Kansas in 1885 next to her father and Austin Carringer, and acted in plays in Wano. Della married Austin Carringer in 1887 in Wano, Kansas, and they took the train to San Diego, Calif. on their honeymoon, and never left.  Della and Austin had a son, Devier, in 1889 but he died at 9 months of age.  Their second son, Lyle, was born in 1891.  Della and Austin bought land in San Diego and built a house on 30th Street with two floors and a widow's walk in 1897.  She managed the house and made money decisions, and was a voter in 1906.  Della grew fruit and vegetables in her expansive gardens.  She kept in touch with her extended family by letters over her years.  Della died in 1944 of a heart problem.

You can read more about Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944) in 52 Ancestors Friday: Abbey Ardelle "Della" (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944).

2)  I chose the poem created by ChatGPT today.  Here are the lyrics:

In Rolling Prairie, Della was born,
To a family strong, through lands they'd be torn.
From Wisconsin plains to Iowa’s breeze,
To Kansas fields under wide-open trees.

In Concordia’s town, where dreams took flight,
She built a future, steady and bright.
Then on to McCook, where the prairie winds blow,
Her roots deepened further in life’s steady flow.

In Wano, astute and wise, she bought land,
Neighbor to her father and Austin's hand.
With laughter and joy, she took to the stage,
Her spirit shining, turning life's page.

Married in love, off to San Diego they went,
A life by the sea, on dreams they were bent.
Their first son, Devier, for too short a stay,
But Lyle, their second, would brighten their way.

A house on 30th, grand and proud,
Della's decisions, her strength was loud.
Gardens of fruit, with her care they grew,
A testament to all the good she’d pursue.

In letters, she'd weave family threads tight,
Through years and distance, she’d always write.
From Concordia's fields to McCook's wide sky,
Her heart held firm, her spirit would fly.

In 1944, her heart took its rest,
But Della’s life, well-lived and blessed,
Lives on in memories, wise and bright,
A shining star in her family’s light.

3)  Here is the AI created song and lyrics, created from song lyrics created on ChatGPT,  on   Suno.com, using a reflective, nostalgic, folk ballad style:

Della’s Life Journey

**Verse 1**
In Rolling Prairie, Della was born,
Through Kansas fields, where her heart was worn.
Concordia’s winds and McCook’s wide sky,
She stood so strong as the years passed by.

**Pre-Chorus**
She was wise, she was true,
She built her life, and her love grew too.
From the stage to the land, she made her way,
In her garden of dreams, she'd stay.

**Chorus**
Della, oh Della, strong and bright,
You built a home with all your might.
From Kansas plains to San Diego's shore,
Your love and light will last forevermore.

**Verse 2**
In Wano, she bought ranch land by her side,
With Austin near, she took it all in stride.
To San Diego on their honeymoon train,
Never looked back, through joy and pain.

**Pre-Chorus**
She was wise, she was true,
She built her life, and her love grew too.
In a house with a widow’s walk so high,
Her garden bloomed beneath the sky.

**Chorus**
Della, oh Della, strong and bright,
You built a home with all your might.
From Kansas plains to San Diego's shore,
Your love and light will last forevermore.

**Bridge**
Though Devier stayed for just a while,
Lyle’s laughter carried on her smile.
She made the choices, she stood so tall,
In every letter, she gave her all.

**Chorus**
Della, oh Della, strong and bright,
You built a home with all your might.
From Kansas plains to San Diego's shore,
Your love and light will last forevermore.

**Outro**
In 1944, her heart took its rest,
But the love she left will always be blessed.
Della, your spirit’s in the wind and the sea,
Forever shining in your family.

AI does this so much better than I could!

I have several more songs online at Suno.com - you can play any or all of them at   https://suno.com/@skeletalvenue315

5)  These stories, told in verse and song, are part of my genealogy and family research.  My hope is that they will be passed down to my grandchildren and their descendants to highlight the importance of sharing stories, memories and love of our ancestors.  I will add them to my Google Drive and to my YouTube channel and my FOREVER account.
